What are the pre-license education requirements?

Prior to becoming a Licensed Appraiser, an individual must take 90 hours of approved education, including the 15-hour National USPAP course and related exam, from a certified Appraisal Pre-license School. Important changes to 2008 appraisal qualifications.

What are the continuing education requirements?

To renew an appraisal license or certification an individual must complete 28 hours of certified Appraisal Continuing Education Courses every renewal cycle (two years), including the seven-hour National USPAP.

Note: You may submit in place of a course certificate a completed and signed Non-certified Continuing Education Credit Request.

How do I certify a continuing education course?

To certify an Appraisal Continuing Education Course an individual must:

  1. Read and be familiar with Administrative Rule R162-103 regarding continuing education.
  2. Submit to the Division:

NOTE: Continuing Education Courses are not required to be certified with the Division of Real Estate but must be in compliance with the AQB. Courses must be for a minimum of two hours in length and must meet the subject matter requirement of the AQB, which includes the following list:

  1. Ad Valorem Taxation
  2. Arbitration
  3. Business Courses Related to Practice of Real Estate Appraisal
  4. Construction Estimating
  5. Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice
  6. Land Use Planning, Zoning Related Computer Taxation
